Rebecca Schoffer and Karina Zilberman were blessed to meet in 2014, and begin their creative journey together! Since then, they have produced concerts, recorded and written music together and celebrated Jewish life with their amazing community at the 92nd Street Y in NYC.
92Y Shababa celebrates the intersection between ancient Jewish tradition and the needs of modern families. Karina and Rebecca’s music invites everyone to be fully present and to open their hearts to the joys of Judaism! They ask that you, please, “Turn it up loud, put on your dancing shoes, and celebrate with the people you love!”
About the Artists:
Karina Zilberman founded Shababa, a community for families with young children, at 92Y in 2007. She led Shababa until the summer of 2015, when she passed the torch to Rebecca. Karina is now the Director of the 92Y Shababa Network, which engages over 40 Jewish organizations around the world. Her passion for inspiring educators and clergy to find their magic is what motivates her to spread the Shababa joy beyond 92Y’s walls.
Rebecca is the Director of Jewish Family Engagement and Shababa at the 92nd Street Y. In addition to being a singer/songwriter, she is also a playwright. Thanks to PJ Library, she wrote and produced “Sammy Spider’s First Mitzvah – the Musical!” based on the book by Sylvia Rouss, and is currently working on a musical adaptation of “Bagels from Benny” another beloved PJ Library tale by Aubrey Davis. (Rebecca is also a proud PJ Mama!)
